What’s Involved in Shed Demolition
Knocking down a shed isn’t as simple as it looks. Here’s what’s typically involved:
- Contents removal: we clear everything out of the shed first
- Demolition: the structure is pulled apart systematically. Roofing comes off first, then walls, then the frame and base
- Material separation: timber, metal sheeting (Colorbond, corrugated iron), concrete footings, and hardware are sorted
- Loading and removal: all materials are loaded onto our truck
- Site cleanup: we rake the area and leave it clean and level
For timber sheds, the process is straightforward. For metal sheds on concrete slabs, there’s a bit more involved — but we handle it all.
Why You Need Professionals for Shed Demolition
A few good reasons to call a crew rather than doing it yourself:
- Rusty metal sheeting: old Colorbond and corrugated iron has sharp edges and rusted screws. It’s a hazard to handle without the right gear
- Asbestos risk: older sheds (pre-1990) may contain asbestos in the roofing or wall sheets. If there’s any doubt, we’ll advise on getting it tested before we start
- Volume: even a small shed generates a surprising amount of waste once it’s pulled apart
- Tools and equipment: Saws, pry bars, bolt cutters, a proper demolition requires proper tools
