The Hills District offers residents a Kerb Side pickup, but there are restrictions on what they’ll collect and when. Here’s what you need to know

Council Cleanup:

  • 2 free pickups per calendar year
  • Must book via Cleanaway portal or call Waste Hotline 1800 623 895
  • Wait times 14-28 days from booking
  • Items can only be placed out the night before collection
  • Placing items without a booking = illegal dumping, penalties apply
  • Additional pickups available for $150 each

Organise the Rubbish In 4 seperate Piles:

  • Garden organics & timber (bundled, max 1.5m, branches under 10cm)
  • Whitegoods (under 300L capacity, fridge doors removed)
  • Mattresses (stacked neatly in separate pile)
  • Other bulky waste (furniture, bagged clothing, boxed loose items)

What Council Accepts:

  • Furniture, mattresses, clothing, bedding
  • Whitegoods fridges, washing machines, dishwashers (doors removed)
  • Carpet (rolled, tied, max 1.5m)
  • Garden prunings (bundled, max 1.5m, under 10cm diameter)
  • Tyres (maximum 4, only 2 with rims)
  • Bagged/boxed loose household items

What Council Won’t Take:

  • Glass or mirrors of any type
  • Building and demolition materials
  • Tree trunks, stumps, thorny plants
  • Chemicals, paints, oils, gas bottles, batteries
  • Car parts, engines
