01. Setup & placement

Skip Bag Set Up And Placement

Correct placement is critical for safe collection. Our truck needs clear access — read these rules before unfolding your bag.

The bag must be placed on private property — your driveway, yard, or garage. It cannot be placed on the footpath, nature strip, council land, or the road.

Our truck needs at least 3 metres of clear space around the bag to manoeuvre safely. Make sure there’s enough room for the truck to pull up alongside.

Distance to truck

Bag sizeMax distance to truck
Small (1m³)5 metres
Medium (2m³)4 metres
Large (3m³)3 metres
Concrete (1m³)2 metres

Weight limit

Bag sizeMax weight
Small (1m³)1,000kg
Medium (2m³)1,000kg
Large (3m³)1,000kg
Concrete (1m³)1,000kg

Check for overhead obstructions — power lines, cables, trees and awnings. We need at least 7 metres of vertical clearance above the bag for our crane arm.

A filled bag is extremely heavy and can split or injure if dragged. Place it in the right spot before you start filling and leave it there until we collect.

02. Filling your Bag

How to fill correctly.

Fill smart to maximise your space and avoid overweight charges

Place heavy items like bricks, tiles and concrete at the bottom of the bag. This lowers the centre of gravity, makes the bag more stable, and allows lighter items to fill the gaps above.

Dismantle furniture and break down large items before loading. This maximises the space in the bag and reduces the risk of items sticking out above the MAX LOAD line.

The MAX LOAD line is printed inside the bag. Never fill above it. Overfilled bags are a safety hazard during collection and may be refused or attract an additional handling fee.

Dense materials like soil, bricks and concrete fill up your weight allowance quickly — often before the bag looks full. If you’re loading heavy materials, be mindful of the included weight limit.

Important warnings

Things that will cause issues.

Avoid these to ensure smooth, problem-free collection.

We cannot collect bags placed on the footpath, nature strip, road or any council land. The bag must be on private property.

Overfilled bags are a safety hazard and may be refused collection or attract a handling surcharge. Never fill above the line.

✗ Asbestos or fibro — never
✗ Mattresses
✗ Chemicals & solvents
✗ Liquid paint, oil & fuel
✗ Gas bottles & cylinders
✗ Medical & biohazard waste
✗ Tyres
✗ Food waste
✗ Animal remains
✗ Flammable materials

Prohibited items will result in the load being refused and a call-out fee charged.

If our truck cannot safely access the bag on the day of collection, the booking may need to be rescheduled and a call-out fee may apply.

The concrete bag must contain only clean concrete, bricks, pavers and tiles. Any mixed waste contamination will result in the load being reclassified and charged at mixed waste rates.

Never attempt to drag or move a filled bag. The weight can cause the bag to split and serious injury. Contact us if the bag needs repositioning before collection.

FAILED COLLECTION FEE POLICY

A failed collection fee of $150 applies in the following circumstances:

— The bag is inaccessible on the day of collection due to incorrect placement, including being blocked by a vehicle, gate, fence or other obstruction
— The bag has been placed on a public footpath, nature strip or council land
— The bag contains prohibited materials including food waste, perishables, animal remains, chemicals, liquids, paint, batteries, gas bottles, asbestos, tyres or e-waste
— The bag is overflowing above the rim and cannot be safely lifted by the crane
— The bag has been damaged, cut or torn and cannot be safely collected
— The crane cannot reach the bag due to insufficient clearance or the bag being placed beyond the maximum distance for its size
— The customer is not available to provide access at the agreed collection time where access was required

The $150 fee covers the cost of truck dispatch, fuel, labour and administration for the attempted collection. A new collection booking and payment will be required before we return.
