Penrith City Council offers residents a Bulky Waste service, but there are restrictions on what they’ll collect and when.
Here’s what you need to know:

Council Cleanup:

  • 4 free pickups per year (resets 1 January)
  • Maximum 2 cubic metres per pickup (roughly a box trailer)
  • Must book in advance via Council’s Waste Spot website
  • Items can only be placed out the night before collection
  • Putting items out without a booking = up to $2,000 fine

What Council Accepts:

  • Furniture (couches, beds, tables, chairs)
  • Mattresses (maximum 4 per collection and kept separate)
  • White goods (fridges, washing machines, dryers)
  • Bagged clothing and textiles
  • Electronics (batteries must be removed)
  • Bundled garden waste (branches max 1.2m long)

What Council Won’t Take:

  • Building/demolition waste (bricks, tiles, concrete, timber)
  • Glass, mirrors, window frames
  • Items over 1.5m long
  • Tree stumps, car parts, tyres
  • Anything too heavy for two people to lift
  • Batteries of any kind
  • Gas bottles, paint, chemicals
