Liverpool City Council offers residents a Bulky Waste service, but there are restrictions on what they’ll collect and when.
Here’s what you need to know:


Council Cleanup:

  • 2 free general clean-up collections per year (resets each calendar year)
  • Maximum 2 cubic metres per booking (roughly a small box trailer)
  • Must book at least 4 weeks in advance online
  • Items can only be placed out the evening before collection
  • All waste types (general, metal, mattresses) must be separated and booked separately
  • Cancelling less than 2 days before collection forfeits one of your annual pickups

Three separate collection types:

  • Mattresses: up to 2 collections/year, max 4 mattresses per booking
  • General waste: up to 2 collections/year, max 2m³ per booking
  • Metal & whitegoods: unlimited collections, max 3 whitegoods or 1m³ of metal per booking

What Council Accepts (general clean-up):

  • Old furniture
  • Carpet (one room only)
  • Fence palings (small amounts)
  • Branches (bundled, max 1m long)
  • Drums (lids/tops removed)
  • Loose materials (in an open box)

What Council Won’t Take:

  • Anything not pre-booked and separated by type
  • E-waste (TVs, computers, fans, printers, toasters, kettles) — must go to Community Recycling Centre, 99 Rose Street Liverpool
  • Items over 2 cubic metres
  • Items two people can’t carry
